Special Announcement?

I just wondered what happened to the 'Special Announcement' posting that was on here for a short while on Thursday evening....

It was deleted as it was no longer needed.

All was explained on Facebook. The Dualers are supporting UB40 in June.

not everyone is a member of facebook, and surely, if this is The Dualer forum, this is the first port of call

The UB40 gig was listed on here when it was listed on Facebook.

As no one had responded to the thread it was assumed it wouldn't be missed.

So do I now need to visit the Facebook site for Dualers info - rather than the Dualers' 'own' forum?

If so, where is there a handy link to the Facebook page on this forum, or do I need to link to it via the Dualers' website?

As I said, everything that is listed on Facebook is also listed on the forum. And the website. And MySpace...

You have not missed out on anything because you don't have a Facebook account.

The link to The Dualers' Facebook page is in the Weblinks section of the forum. It has been there since 17th July 2009.

(I did start a Facebook page a couple of years(?) ago, in the days on Snowball, Aitch and Nelly on the forum, but was discouraged from continuing by the countless add-ons, 'pokes' etc)

I don't think people 'poke' any more... And there's lots of new settings, so you could probably switch that off if you wanted to.

The post on Facebook about the 'special announcement' was also removed, and replaced with the gig listing, just as it was on here.

I'm really not understanding all this fuss about a deleted post that no one had replied to anyway...

Perhaps some of us were hoping for the announcement of a major step in the Dualers' career? While it's good that they're booked again to support UB40, there may come a time when they headline the show?

I saw the posting while browsing the forum mid-evening, then happened to 'meet' Sarah Louise in a brief glance at the chat-room, and asked if she'd seen the news of the 'special announcement', only to find that it had been deleted.
....but if the news was known and published elsewhere anyway, what was the point of a teaser trail on here in the first place

The 'teaser trail' was also posted on Facebook - like I keep saying, no extra information is posted on Facebook, it's exactly the same info as on here.

It was the intention to not announce it until Saturday, at the request of UB40's people. But then they got in touch to say tickets were going on sale today, and could it be listed as soon as possible. Which was why the 'teaser trail' was deleted and the gig listed instead - on both Facebook and the forum.

As the forum post hadn't been replied to (nor online for very long so not many people had seen it) it seemed pointless to announce that I had deleted a thread that 95% of members wouldn't have known was there to begin with.

Whereas now, people's attention is being drawn to something that doesn't exist - and I'm not sure for what reason

And as for The Dualers' career, we are all hoping that there will come a time soon when they headline the show. After all, we all know that Madness and UB40 should be supporting them

But they have sold out the indigO2 twice, and are playing there for a third time. They are definitely on their way

It's all perfect English when I click on it.

Do you have a continental computer, Clive?

The text content is in English, but all the headings and tabs are in French.

PC is Compaq Presario- fresh out of PC World a year or several back!
